I have an IP address - how do I match it to a user?

My forum is running a competition with another website that is giving a refund to an event booked through their website.

I am now trying to find out who that user is.

I have the IP address but other than trawling through every users posts and looking at the IP from posting history, I dont know how.

I thought it was in the ban control section, however, if I input the IP into the ban tab, it doesnt tell me who its going to effect.

Help!

You will need to go into their post and click IP or you can go to the admin panel home page and see if it matches. The only problem if you check in the admin panel you and the other user must be on at the same time.

thanks for the answer Mario but I think you have misunderstood the question.

The IP address has been provided to me by the other website from their info.

I am now trying to find the user on my forum who has that IP address.

So, other than checking every post manually and hoping for a match, I want to know if there is a place I can post a IP address and it shows which of my members have posted from that address.

ie.

I am a site admin on my forum (call it ABC for example)

Owner of www.XYZ.com has told me that user who has the IP address.XXXXXX has won a refund for a service in a competition.

How do I input the IP that XYZ have given me to find out who they are on ABC?

The only way to find out is what I posted above.
