Well the portal is the first page that appears on your forum and to add news you can simply make a custom block and then add it to the portal.

No, when I click ''Home'' it takes me to the forum... I want the Forum to be the Homepage.

Sorry but as far as I know you can't switch the Home button(which shows the forum) with the portal. But you can add lots of stuff and modify the portal page pretty good to make it look as good as you want.
