forum under construction/holiday, when is it closed Empty forum under construction/holiday, when is it closed

Post by celtic1888 October 7th 2011, 4:40 pm

i run a forum http://www.cscbadges.com/
for the last few weeks they have been acting like children
as a punishment i have closed the forum as under construction and placed a message to them
i was going to use "on holiday" but it didnt have an opportunity to leave a message

anyway my question is if they are still logged into the forum when will the closure take place?
ive logged in after it is shut down and still see people logged in...

do they have to log out, and or if they dont will they still have access?

it seems to work for me, as i tried to register and got the message, a member friend tried to log in, but couldnt
what about others already in?
thanks

Hello celtic1888

Welcome. Hello
Your forum is locked down. I put my forum in the holiday mode for awhile, members could sign in as usual but couldn't post. That way guests could still sign up if they wished.

Drop of the black stuff might help. :wouhou:
Liz. Wink

Update:

When you logged back in the members still showing as on board will clear, might be something to do with time showing before log out, don't worry about this unless someone with more knowledge says so.

yes ive done that to the forum and it seesm to have worked, ive ask a member to log in and he cant...
ive tried to register and cant i get the underconstruction message

however when i log in as admin i can see three members who are still logged in, as they were on when i put it under construction
so my questions are, are they logged in, or is it just showing that...
or when will they be logged out?
if they continu to be logged in will they ever be logged out to the construction page Hem

Hello celtic1888

When you say "construction" was off, do you mean in the admin panal, or was members on forum or and did anyone else post while you where off line.

The reason I ask is; My board seems to differ from what others say.

Eg:

Holiday members can enter but not post until I click on the "no" button.
Constuction members barred from entering. (Don't know how long for as I've never tried.)

If you have a second account try both and see what you get.

Do you care if members see but can't post "holiday" :wouhou:

Liz.

Update:
Read my second post here for a good tip https://help.forumotion.com/t97941-double-accounts#632702

If you can do the above:

Make all forums private and disallow PM for members, then login as "tester" and see how far you can go on the board as a member just. Wink

I'm editing each time to avoid posting new messages, so keep going and give me feedback as you go if possible.

hi liz
ive been using under construction
in the admin panel>general>configuration>in general you get forum in construction and a yes or no buttons to pick

yesterday i had it yes, today it was no and the foum had people in it
i dont know if they posted
ive closed it again

this should be easy to do and simple
maybe forumnotion dont want you to close forum for temp periods!

err i dont want them in, so holiday is no good for me, kee pthem out is my motto the now
