HTML not working.
I have used HTML in Announcements before but now for some reason it does not work. I can see the HTML icons but when I click the icons nothing happens. I have been into my profile and the 'use HTML' is clicked to 'yes' I have also clicked 'yes' to using HTML in emails etc. As I said I can get the HTML box but no icons work. They did once because I have used them lots. But for some reason they dont now. Weird. Suggestions ?
I have highlighted the text above just to show that I do actually know how to use Html.
Thanks!

Re: HTML not working.
Can you provide a screenshot of what oyu mean?
Making 'Announcements' bold does not show HTML, that is done through BBcode.

To save you straining your eyes its "announcements" that is ticked.
And yes I have "allow HTML" ticked. (Messages and Emails>configuration>Allow Html) Done the same in my profile to allow HTML)

Yes but you haven't chaned it to the html editor. lol.
You need to press where the red cross in the top left where it says html and THEN paste your code.

If you are talking about the XHTML just above the B for Bolding I thought that button just turns the HTML editing on and off? If you look at the picture I posted you will see I already have the HTML Editor up. If I click it again all it will do is switch off the HTML editor, or am I missing something??? I dont want to enter code I just want to use rich text to enable me to Bold words or underline them etc. In other words use the tools provided by the Html. Like I can do with this. text.
This icon? The one that just switches the Html on and off?

Re: HTML not working.
Yes that icon. If you wish to write HTML into the box, you need to press it so that it turns into a green cross. ONLY then can you put actual HTML code in to that box.
In its current form (the icon has a red cross) you can type words in and make them bold, just like using Microsoft Word. Its called WYSIWYG. Basically it is doing all the HTML for you.

Thats what I am getting at you CAN NOT DO IT you are supposed to be able to highlight a word or words then press the B button and that makes the selected letters bold etc. But MINE DOES NOT WORK. I am not trying to paste Html code. What I am saying is that the buttons DO NOTHING That is why I was demonstrating I knew what to do with the icons. Such things as htis .................. But no matter which button I press it does nothing. If I put the mouse pointer over the B it says Bold but does not make the type I have selected bold. I do not want to insert actual code, just use the wysiwyg function.

Re: HTML not working.
I think you have to have Activate extended message editor :set to yes. and Activate the WYSIWYG mode by default in the posts : set to no,
That's how i have it set up on my test forum to phpbb3 and it works like you are asking.
Plus you do not even have to highlight it, you can just click it and start typing, it will be bold, or whatever color etc...
Go to admin panel>General>Messages and emails>configurations
scroll down until you see,
Activate extended message editor = YES
Activate the WYSIWYG mode by default in the posts = No
then hit save

Re: HTML not working.
Hello frankc
Have you tried testing the "HTML" code in another part of the forum to check its working?
My biggest downfall after years of using html is miscoding a part.
I've never needed to use the "image" format before in my admin panal (to place announcements) as I set it up on becoming an admin.
I have tried "Html" in "Announcements" before and it worked.
If the html works elsewhere it should work in your "htlm editor" annoucements box also.
So it might be time to call in the experts on this one.
Good luck
Liz

Hello frankc
I can see the text ok in your "announcement".
Try this code, I set it up in my forum to test and it works.
<div align="center"><a href=" you url " target="_blank">
<img src="https://2img.net/u/1915/22/64/96/avatars/1-72.png" width="70" height="70" border="clear"

Re: HTML not working.
I cut and pasted the code in and it worked. I got your big budgie icon scrolling across the screen. But the icons still do not work in wysiwyg format. Hope this helps.

Update
The HTML or WYSIWYG icons are still not working. Another thing I noticed this morning. If you open up the e-mail box. Select XHtml, where the icons do not work, write your message. Then preview that message. Click to return to editing. You go back to the plain text and not rich html text. I also note there is no Send button only preview. So if you want to send the email you have just written you have to preview then click send in the preview box. I do not know if this is normal but that is what happens in my forum.
Any sign of this being fixed??
Thanks.

Re: HTML not working.
Can i have a link to your forum?
If it is in the admin panel, there is nothing wrong with it, and it could be your browser.

Re: HTML not working.
The WYSYIWYG on here, n the quick reply, and post reply editor, is different to the rich text editor in the admin panel.
