How to edit phBB2 template code Empty How to edit phBB2 template code

Post by cferrell October 20th 2011, 5:03 am

Whenever I try to edit the phBB2 template code it simply says..

In this page, you can modify templates and change your forum look.
Modified templates are written in green.
(unpublished templates are shown red) To use the default template again, delete your template by clicking on delete.

Only templates of phpbb2 or PunBB versions will be affected.

There is no option or text box for me to edit. I need to access the template code, please advise.

I believe I am using phBB2. Here is a screen shot of the message I get when I attempt to edit the Template.

You must have the version PhpBB or PhpBB2.

If you can't tell go to Administration Panel --> Display --> Skins --> Choose a theme --> Version.

Now on Change Version it should already be marked what you have. Don't change it, but what it is on right now means the version you have.

OMG! Thank you! I have been wondering how to change my version! I'm not going to do that unless as last resort, but my current version is apparently phBB3. So, how do I go about editing codes and such? I'd assume phBB3 would be better than phBB2 ( given the higher number ) but it seems as though phBB2 is more user friendly for editing?

Well, you may look here to choose which forum version you think would be better. And the reason codes and everything is used so much is because you can do great things with them and you can customize things more. Such as this here.
