Hello todbear,

I believe that with Internet Explorer, you could run into problems using anything other than the .ico format as your favicon. However, Firefox supports any format being used.

When I made my favicon recently, I used this site here.
You can either import an image from your computer or create a favicon right on the site. Once you're happy with what you see, you click on 'Download Favicon' and it will automatically convert the file to the .ico format.

The only problem with using the .ico format is that Photobucket doesn't recognize the file when you're trying to upload it. So you'll need to upload the file to a free file hosting website instead (I use FileDen).

Yes, if that is the direct link to the image that you would like to use; replace the Photobucket URL with the new URL.
