OK. I really need this for my site.
I tihnk we should really be able to have Multiple Ranks for one person.

Re: Multiple Ranks
I usually enter all the ranks of each individual as a title choice under their avatars, but it would be better for bigger sites.
I vote yes.

Yes it's possible, though I'm not quite sure if the site I've seen it on is PhpBB or InvisionFree's IPB.

Re: Multiple Ranks
Yes, it should be quite easy, they just have to copy the code for the current ranks and instead of eg:
They could change them all to:
Yes it is possible and relatively easy but then they would have to mess with all of the forms to do with ranks, Difficult but I vote yes...
- Code:
echo $rank."<BR>";
They could change them all to:
- Code:
echo $rank1."<br>".$rank2."<BR>".$rank3;
Yes it is possible and relatively easy but then they would have to mess with all of the forms to do with ranks, Difficult but I vote yes...
Re: Multiple Ranks
This is getting tiresome, this can already be done:
title name<br>title name<br>title name
put that in the rank title
title name<br>title name<br>title name
put that in the rank title

Re: Multiple Ranks
But theres no space for eg: Administrator
After that the space is up and after all, you dont want to make different combinations for a site with 20 different ranks do you?

Re: Multiple Ranks
i think multiple ranks are needed. members can have their own ranks and earn ranks as "prizes" or something like that.
i voted yes.
i voted yes.
Re: Multiple Ranks
I voted yes because we have several different ranks as well.
And CBP, I can only choose one rank for my members at a time.. from a drop-down menu. I add a rank, save, and then if I go to add another rank from their list, it just changes the old one. How do you do this?

When I said I manually enter a rank below the avatar, I meant I use the RPG system and have a title bar set so that only admin can modify it. I then enter the member's rank, which can be anywhere from member to moderator, or administrator. Since I have different groups of which sometimes my moderators aren't even allowed access, I just seperate the "need-to-know" ranks with commas.
Just a demonstration, It would appear like this undernieth a member's avatar:
Rank: Global Moderator, V.I.P, Super-Senior.
Or something of the sort. If you want actual ranks in terms of "leveling-up" like this topic is based on, it's also possible to create custom ranks for each individual moderator/special member and use the code Kol Vol posted, seperating each rank with a <BR>

Re: Multiple Ranks
Ah.. makes sense. But, since I'm actually using the RPG (or starting to) I'll have to try the <BR>. Thanks for explaining, CBP.

Re: Multiple Ranks
Although you may not need it, you would always have the option to not utilize it. It's not like it would junk up the forum or even the admin panel. Can't see why it shouldn't be something that is added for those that do need it and wish to utilize it, which seems to be the majority of voters here. I hope a tech stops by this one and takes it into consideration, at the very least.

in my experience, even such a simple request could "hose" up forum.
\i dont see the need as the current set up will allow for such things
just my opoinion *
Re: Multiple Ranks
Here's an example, you own a semi-successful RPG forum. Fantasy based, there are 3 main race groups one of them is human. Now you want to put an icon on top of a player's avatar indicating he's human. Now you have an icon representing one's race. Now you want to add an icon for ranks. Such as guild member, guild leader, captain, etc... Now if... there is no multi ranks module, the ONLY way to have both race and rank icons on top of a player's avatar is by making a joined image of both, uploading it and encoding it. And you'll have to do that again for a person with a different rank, and again for a person with a different race.
My point is, it saves time and effort of the admin or person if the forums had multi ranks.

Thank you and God bless.
