Auto resizing widget hiegth -HTML

I have some widget on the right side of my forum. The background of the forum is pretty dark and it looks strange when the posts go way below the last widget. Essentially it creates a dark bar to the right while the center and left side are a light color. Is there a way to make a blank widget (light color) that auto extends to the level of the last post?
