Roleplay Game... how to begin?

Hi all!
I want to ask if someone can explain me a little bit more about the option RPG on the forums.
I've never played a RPG before, but I would like to try to play it with my forummembers.
The only thing is, I don't know how to start...
Can someone tell me how it basicly works and how I can activate the option correct?
My forum is about a band, so I would like the RPG to be about that also, would that be possible?

ummm how can you roleplay about a band? No offence but rpg usually revolve around fantasy and adventures. To start it go to admin panel>modules> rpg and it will tell you how to activate it. You can add character sheets and make a roll of dice

For a band I think I'd make each member be the owner/manager/lead of a group and the aim would be to end up world wide famous and rich

I discussed it already with some of the forummembers and the plan was indeed that everyone should play a bandmember etc.
Can the Game Master also be a character in the game, or is that to confusing?

When I still had my RPG forum, I had 2 accounts: the master account and a "gaming" account

i know how to make characters,bars,fields,but i dun know:

What's with the Dices:
It's a sort of random image display function,
there again it's up to you to find a use for it

I think I have activated it, put in 3 parameters: life, magic and power. Gave all the members an image, gave an image to the dice also. What I don't understand is how to "start" it. How do members actually "play" the game? If there is some kind of rolling of dice, how do the players get to roll the dice? Can you PM me the "unofficial" tutorial too?

I recently started using Forumotion's RPG mod and in my opinion it's quite useful and has a lot of potential. I don't know if there's an automated way in calculating damages, HP, etc.. but I've developed a battle system that is both manual and automated, the manual part being the calculating of damages and HP, etc.., and the automated party being the fight mod who judges whether your attack hits or misses depending on the difference of the player and his opponent's stats. It's quite confusing at first but that's where the battle mods come in to guide the players during battles.

There are many uses to the Dice as Caihlem stated, you can go with the simple hit or miss. Or you could build a stat based system, where a player with higher stats will have a greater chance of you hitting or dodging to a player with less stats, well at least that is how I did mine.

You can also make a card based game with your dice. But the only problem is there's no way to tell your dice that once that card has been rolled it mustn't be drawn again.

Or if you're a board game fanatic you can use a standard 1-6 dice ,or more if you like, and create your own snakes and ladders (old yet exciting game)

There's plenty more you can do with the RPG dice. I'm no master of the RPG dice, but I can teach a few stuff to how you can make a good game with it.

I'm pretty good with my forum's RPG module. Just last month, a member of my forum requested Character Sheet fields for a game where you get weapons and you have a health bar for it. The game was a real hit, we had a lot of fun! There are endless possibilities with the RPG module, I could even give you some cool ideas!

thanks for the tutorial. does it mean that there's no default "story" , "game" & "character picture" in Forumotion? We have tp do all these by our own? Where can we get the picture then? And, how do we progress from 1 level to another?

Story line:
No there's no default one, where would the originality be? You need to be inovative and follow your inspirations

Game:
Lke Isshin said, you need to design it yourself. You hace the basic tools, now you need to ome up with a system

Character Picture:
3 possiblities exist:
> Personal pictures made by you
> Google searches
> Some generators propose avatars hich'll have pre-defined styles but still alow personalisation

Progression:
Returns to the Game. You need to decide how that works

1)If I allow the member to upgrade their levels automatically after certain number of posts, where should I set the condition in the RPG module?

2)If player A fight against player B, of course the stronger one would win , but where can I set the criteria in the RPG module?

3)If player B wins the fight. Would his point increase automatically?

4)If I allow the player to buy weapon based on their current points , where should I set the condition on the number of points to be deducted automatically?

2) The criteria will depend on the system you build

The RPG (or Character) Sheets aren't an interactive tool. They merely serve as a support for the RPG you design. I started my first RPG without this option
