Administration Panel > Display > Homepage > Structure & Hierarchy
Split categories on index : Medium

hello, go to: ACP--->Display--->Homepage---->Structure and hiearchy---> Split categories on index.

For phpbb3(i use phpbb3 too! Razz) medium is the best collective option!
