Integrated Cookie Control
Integrated Cookie Control
Laws that are currently being rolled out by the ever so annoying EU prohibit the use of 'Cookies' without the consent of the user so ...
I propose the integration of 'Cookie Control' into every forum by default.
Kindest Regards

I propose the integration of 'Cookie Control' into every forum by default.
- This means the user can choose how their cookies are stored
- It is a plugin so easy to implement
- It is in accordance with the new laws being rolled out
- Gives users a little more clarity on how exactly Forumotion based forums are storing their data
Kindest Regards

Re: Integrated Cookie Control
Well, the cookies are already explained in the registration's 1st step, wouldn't that do basically the exact same thing?
Would it not be easier to just slightly modify that file then to add then re-script this into the files, since FM likes to re-script everything.
By the way, what a stupid law lol

Re: Integrated Cookie Control
Yeah I agree, it's by far the stupidest law EVER created!
The law states that it's for ALL users, so even those who accidentally bump into your website, they'll need to be presented with a choice, this script is a lightweight plugin and since the forumotion team are busy, I thought this would be the best option.

Re: Integrated Cookie Control
Honestly, I don't see the point in this, as were already respecting that law as it already states during creation of account (and forum) that we use cookies, and that's the opt-in/out option then in my opinion, but can u reference me with a link to that law so I can read up

Re: Integrated Cookie Control
Yeah but your missing the point that not everyone signs up for accounts, for every one user that registers another 25 or so have looked at the website and those are the ones that WON'T see the 'Opt In/ Opt Out' section.
ICO This article is from 2011 however the document was updated recently and outlines that even a USER (defines a user as someone behind the device) must provide consent whether before or after the event i.e. 'Viewing' the website.
In short, you can't just have 'Cookie opt in / opt out' for subscribers (registered users) only, you need it for everyone.
Cookies for everyone *YAY*

Re: Integrated Cookie Control
OHHHH massive big chocolate cookies would do the trick, I got this hankering for a raspberry and white chocolate chip cookie, hmmmmm
lol I don't think you're wrong, you're complying with current cookie law but the new law stands to change a ton of things which will not only inconvenience everyone buy possibly hinder progress of social media, so maybe just a bit behind
Whoop, Yes all the way
