Forum App

Post by cookiemonster395 on October 18th 2012, 2:27 pm

More and more forums I visit now as soon as you visit the forum, you're offered an APP for the forum which makes access to the forum really easy.

I know an APP can be created by members by themselves on smartphones by adding a page to their home screen but not everyone wants to have to do this and they'd rather have the option there for them. It also makes it easier for visitors to come back to us also if they can just get our APP and its there as a reminder then on their phone to visit us again.

I know I'd be very interested in having this if it were possible please.

Yes, it does very much seem the way to go now for accessing forums doesn't it. It would make things so much simpler for all members.

Anybody else interested in the ability to have an IOS app that would show notifications on your smartphones and give easier access to both yourself and forum members old and new?

Yes. This is one of MANY necessary improvements if Forumotion want to keep my business.

The picture hosting is also a joke. Rule of social networking: If it takes more than 3 clicks then people won't do it.

LISTEN TO YOUR USERS!!!

It is 'necessary' I agree. We're falling behind other forums who have moved with the times and made the effort to make access easier for their members in using an app. For us to keep members we need to 'keep up'!

More and more of my members are making a request for an app for our forum, are there no other forumotion users that feel their forum would benefit from an app?

The world seems to be moving in a more mobile direction, and though I applaud forumotion for going mobile I believe it can be taking to another level with an app. This app of course should cover apple, android, Blackberry, and windows and should make it so that you can navigate between different forumotion sites. My idea is that there is a screen where you can type in the web address and log in or simply view the site. I also think it would be helpful to have push notifications for when someone replies back to a topic you were watching or sends you a Priviate message. You could also upload some type of chatbox interface. I would also suggest something for webmasters and admin so they can change their forum for on the go.

Now I understand that Forumotion is a business and you guys are going to do anything without a return, I personally don't blame you and by all means you should make some money off of this. I believe the first and most obvious way to make money is to sell the app for 99 cents or whatever amount of money you wish. Though that would steer some people away it's an option for you to explore. Another way to make revenue is to simple do 3rd party advertising with the app. Many apps generate money this way.. I would even go so far to suggest that you could offer ad space to wenmasters of forumotion who hope to increase traffic to their site. Or you could simple do a mix of the two or some other way to generate money.

Overall, I believe that this could be helpful, especially to webmasters who are always busy. It is defiantly something to consider in my opinion, but I am interested in hearing what everyone else thinks so please feel free to leave comments and suggestions about this topic.

Absolutely! C'mon forumotion, an app for our forums really is the way forward now. Almost every forum is supplying apps now to make easy access for mobile users and we're lagging behind with our users requesting an app every day.

More and more users are turning to tablets and smart phones to access the Internet now and for these users an app really is the most accessible option.

Post by luiz187 on August 8th 2013, 11:55 am

Its really irritating now. Anytime now all my members will move to a forum with a cool app. If this is about money forumotion its not really gonna help you being left behind all the other forums Razz
And if you are making an app could you announce it before it comes out? Id love to know ones coming out so I don't have to vote on all these things

@nictis don't forget Amazons kindle fire for the app!

Please, please, please can you consider an app for our forums?

People now live in an age of social media and they very much work from a tablet or mobile these days, so an app is now becoming an integral part of any forum to enable us to keep up with technology and make for easy access for members which the type of forums they're looking for.

Having an app would be sooo helpful! Especially when you are like me and are always on the go! It's probably been five months since I've last sat down on a computer for longer then 5 minutes, I always have my phone on me though! Accessing the site through your mobile browser gets old once you go on 10 times a day.

I say yes to this very fantastic idea C:

A Forumotion app would be great. The mobile version is extremely limited, not even having the ability to view private messages or edit posts. I would be more than happy to pay $.99 for an forum-browsing app without ads. There have been times when I have been unable to access a computer but do have a mobile device on me. While the mobile version is decent, it does not allow me to do what I need to as an admin, and the desktop version loads extremely slowly. I am sure that members would love this option as well. It would just make things a lot simpler and infinitely easier while browsing on a phone.

We have been talking for years about updating the forum code to enable Tapatalk.  If you aren't interested in that then you should make your own app.  The mobile version of our sites are so outdated and we are missing at least half the traffic we would get. When we miss out, you lose money.

Yes! By all means, an app would make this a much more interesting and easy to use design. Or at least update the mobile version to be more comprehensive.
