In progress The list of topics appears only for every single (sub-) forum, but not for the category.

Post by Talk February 4th 2013, 5:53 pm

For my forum TelTalk.org I have chosen the following setting:

Administration panel > Display > Homepage > Structure and hierarchy > Index packing > Keep categories on index > Full

If a visitor clicks on the link for a (sub-) forum, he gets the list of all topics under it (as it should be).

If a visitor clicks on the link for the category (with several forums), he gets only the list of all (sub-) forums, but not the list of the topics inside of those (sub-) forums.

Now the visitor has to click the (sub-) forum to see the topics.

Is it possible instead to adjust the settings for the visitor to see already the topics of all (sub-) forums under this category (on the page before already)?

My expectation would be that a visitor (after choosing only the category) sees first the list of all (sub-) forums and after them the list of all topics from those (sub-) forums.
(That would include all topics of the (sub-) forums inside of one category.)

Hi, I'm on Invision and I use "Split categories on Index" "Medium". This lets me see on the Homepage/Index:

    Category
    Forum
    Sub-forum

    Example:

The list of topics appears only for every single (sub-) forum, but not for the category. Captur43

You have the same situation like me:

In the view for the category appear only the names of the forum and sub-forums, but not the topics.

To see the topics visitors have to go into the sub-forum, but they don't appear one level higher or in the category.

Is there a setting to change this?

If I understand what you are asking, there is not an option to set like that.

    To make myself understandable:

If I open a category (or main forum), I want to see 2 blocks:
    1.) a list of the sub-forums
    and
2.) a list of the topics which are included in these sub-forums.

Yes, an option for my request doesn't exist in the administration panel.

Is it possible to realize it with a CSS code?

Can forum content be placed / displayed on different pages with CSS?

I would be very happy to find a possibility!

The problem is that my forum has a lot of topics, and my visitors are asking for an easy navigation.

With this I want to keep the overview of the forum.

Perhaps my wish is not so easy to realize.

But does anyone have an idea?

Like I said there is no option for that, and I have not seen any way of creating that.

Yes, that is very nice for a support forum like this.

    But my question was different:

If I open a category (or main forum), I want to see 2 blocks:
    1.) a list of the sub-forums
    and
2.) a list of the topics which are included in these sub-forums.

I'm afraid the solution would need an extensive CSS code.

I see; then the solution seems to be complicated.

No, what I like to have is if you would place the topics from the archive under the link https://help.forumotion.com/f45-forum-design-appearance-help too (as addition), e. g. in a special section.
