Is it possible to have an image span the entired width of a category header in PHPBB2?

Hello,

I am attempting to have rounded borders on my category headers like PHPBB3 allows, but in PHPBB2, it seems like it isn't possible since each column is separated into its own section. So my question is, is there any way I can mess with the CSS or some way to hack together some code that will allow the same kind of category header as PHPBB3. Changing to phpbb3 is less than likely, and I would like to stick to phpbb2 if possible at all.

That may have been worded in a confusing manner, so here are some image examples. I'll clarify if asked to as well.
