Update, Edit or Something Else to Choose
I think it woul;d be nice when you edit a post you could choose it to say like "Edited last by "Trevor" or like "Updated last by "Trevor" or others you can think of so it would be like update, edit etc. or you can makeone yourself.
Do you like it?

Re: Update, Edit or Something Else to Choose
you can already do it yourself.
some people dont like to show when theyve edited something.
some people do. So, those people who do like doing that, should already know how to manually put in there "edited by". if they dont know how to do that, then too bad.
in my opinion.

Its yet another useless suggestion. honestly why do we need this when we can just write it when we edit

Some of the message boards I've frequented, including a huge community that I've been part of for many years, has it so that it isn't even optional. It automatically shows it as edited, whether the author wants it to or not, if it's edited more than one minute after originally being posted.
Showing a post as edited is sort like a turn signal on a car. It's not necessary to function, but it shares useful information with other drivers. Like members of a forum community, many people don't feel the need to let everyone know they edited their post, much like they don't bother using their turn signals, but the information can still be useful to others whether the author feels like messing with it or not.
For example, we're debating a song by Metallica and you make a post that drops the wrong name for the lead singer. I then go in to reply with a correction, informing you that James Hetfield is in fact the lead singer for Metallica. However, while I'm typing my reply, you sneak in with an edit and make the correction without sharing the fact that you edited your original post with anyone. Now your post mentions the right name, followed by my post correcting what now appears to have already been correct. If your post had been marked as edited, anyone coming along to view our discussion would see that you fixed your post and then mine would make some more sense.
Re: Update, Edit or Something Else to Choose
I like being able to see when a member has edited something, especially when it's in a heated/argumentative thread. People doing the right thing in those threads rarely need to edit, but those who are breaking the rules, are always editing hoping they've done so before Admin see.
I don't really care much for the 'updated' option. I think just seeing 'edited' is enough - I think there are far more important functions we could find of use to have installed

Re: Update, Edit or Something Else to Choose
This is not necessary, as this can be done by just filling out the reason for editing box, thus, I vote no.

Re: Update, Edit or Something Else to Choose
I was under the impression that if you edited your post after someone else has posted a reply below yours, it automatically showed up as 'edited'. However, if no one has posted after the post you wish to edit, I don't think it shows up.
Wanted to add that if you fill in the 'reason for editing' it will automatically show up..
