In progress New Topic Text Box Color

Post by DaveG on July 5th 2013, 2:55 am

Hi
I'm having a problem with my forum,
Not sure what theme I'm using but the pages are black which is what I chose.

Problem is that the NEW TOPIC text box is white and the text is also white, when i use the The Text colour change option and make it black it cant be seen on the black pages when i post it

Is there any way of making the NEW TOPIC text box a darker colour so that white text will be visible.
I've attached a link to the Forum

http://tccf.forumotion.com/

Thanks Dave

Hi, I can't see your forums new topic textbox to be sure of the code because I'm viewing as a guest but try adding this code to your CSS stylesheet:

Code:
textarea {
background-color:#000 !important;
}

Hi Runaway Horses
Unfortunately that didn't fix the problem
I have opened up the section called Tell us about yourself
Guests can now post in this section.

Funny thing is although I removed the text from the CSS the Forum now has a red border around the Categories which looks cool but te Menu Items have no border now.

Cheers Dave

Hi, OK so I have a New Topic open and the text is black and the background is white, and when previewing the post the text is white on your forums black background, so I'm not seeing the problem as the text in the editor is black on a white background.

What browser are you using Internet Explorer?

Not sure how this can be
but you are correct, I just tried it and it is as you say. Only thing i did was copy and past your text I thought it didn't work so I deleted the text and now it seems to be OK

Thanks so much for your help
Not sure how but problem is solved.

Thanks again  Runaway Horses

You're welcome. I don't know but maybe your CSS had to be republished or something to clear out a bug. In any case glad its how you want it now. Smile

Hi!  We have the same problem.  Changes made recently by Freeforums has resulted in our posting/reply/edit main boxes as white font on white background.  It used to have contrast between the two, I think black font on white.

I have changed our general settings to light grey font so people can actually SEE anything they write.  But that seems to be the only setting that affects the font in question. And I can find no setting for the background of those boxes.

You guys posted some solutions above and in another section I'm watching.  I am not a computer major.  I don't understand any of it.  Can someone put a solution in simplistic terms I and five year old child can understand?

Thanks.

Add this to your css & check.
Code:
 div.sceditor-container textarea {
    background-color: #ff0000 !important;
}
 div.sceditor-container {
    background-color: #Ff0000 !important;
}

Sorry, didn't work.
I copy/past it at the bottem of my Css.

This was the message :

You didn't copy all the code you left out a bracket {

Or your css stylesheet was already missing a bracket } before you attempted to add the code, because the code is correct and not missing any brackets. }

I would suggest you copy all your CSS you have in your stylesheet and paste it at this site to find the missing bracket:

Hi, i used the compressor "even if i don't know what it does"
and tried again, it works, but it only gives a black border.
The mid-section is still white.

thx

Try this code:

Code:
.sceditor-container iframe, .sceditor-container textarea {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #000 !important;
color: #fff !important;
font-size:13px;
}

That's what this part of the code does. Right now its white #fff

Code:
color:#fff !important;

What color do you want it?

Hex color codes are 6 digits but some can be 3 digits if they repeat themselves like white does.

The white hex color is #ffffff but you can use only 3 digits because they repeat #fff

You always put this in front of the digits: #

look here at this site to find a 6 digit color code you want and replace that fff with your color choice:

I guess i'm doing something wrong. Confused

this is code :

.chatbox_row_1,.chatbox_row_2 {
background:none;
}
#fa_right.welcome #fa_menu ul,#chatbox > p span.user > span strong,#search {
display:none;
}
li.row,#chatbox_footer,div#page-header div.navbar {
background-image:url(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/sfinx/sfinx%20place%20I/BACKGROUNDS/sinister20studio20desk201920x1200.jpg);
}
div.sceditor-container textarea,div.sceditor-container {
background-color:black!important;
}
.sceditor-container iframe, .sceditor-container textarea {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #000 !important;
color: #111111 !important;
font-size:13px;
}

I changed the color in #111111, still if i try my reply box the text is still black.
What am i doing wrong ?

thx Sfinx

Code:
$(window).load(function () {
   $(".sceditor-container
iframe").contents().find("head").append("<style>body,html,p,table{background:#333!important;color:#DDD!important}table,td{border-color:#999!important}blockquote{background:#666!important;margin-left:10px;border:0;padding-left:10px;border-left:3px
 solid}blockquote
cite{background:url(http://i78.servimg.com/u/f78/17/70/81/78/quote10.png)
 no-repeat left
center;padding-left:20px;margin-bottom:10px}code{background:#666;padding-left:10px;margin-left:10px}code:before{background:url(http://i83.servimg.com/u/f83/16/58/89/73/page_w10.png)
 no-repeat 10px center
#666!important;height:20px;top:-22px;left:-1px;border:1px solid
#999;padding:0 5px 0 30px}</style>")
});
