Solved Forum Color change Problem - Phpbb3

Post by ryz on July 20th 2013, 1:18 pm

Hi, so I'm having this issue with my website/forum, I want to change the appearance by changing the colors of the text of categories and forums titles and so on the text color the description of those forums and the default text color when writing a post etc... but when I go by trying to do so in the:
Administration Panel --> Display --> Pictures and Colors --> Colors

After finding the current color of the texts i want changed and seeing the red marked area on the preview to help spot what i'm looking to change etc. I change them and hit save but the change do not go into effect and the old current colors are still remained the same. I'm not experienced with CSS Stylesheet coding or changing though i've tried to go changing it in there simple understanding of the stylesheet lines but with no success.

I've tried to delete my internet cache and restart the web browser and so on to see if that could been a problem to prevent to see the update but the issue still remains. Is there a current problem with the admin panel option to change this or how can I go by properly to change the color of what the red arrows in the picture below shows. The option on the "colors and text size" in the colors option changing the different link colors, clearly does not work or take effect when changed.

  I Want to change the color of forum titles and their description for example the titles changed to a white color.

Why would that be necessary? Asking due to would not like to go public with my website at the current moment. Is there a way to go by changing these texts in the css stylesheet and what line if so would that be, as clearly the none css stylesheet option the "Colors" section is broken, when it comes to changing this. Could it be due to the theme preventing it? hmm...

Thanks.

Add this to your CSS stylesheet:
Code:
ul. topiclist {
    color:  YOUR COLOR;
}
a. forumtitle {
    color:  YOUR COLOR;
}
.content {
    color:  YOUR COLOR;
}

At what line of the stylesheet do i add this ? (Not experienced with adding stuff to stylesheets) Do i just put it at the very button of it ?

I receive this when added it at the button of the stylesheet

We have counted a different number of "{" and of "}". It means your CSS risks to be not valid and will not be posted correctly on your forum.

We advise you to reread your code.

That means somewhere in the stylesheet there too many or not enough of {}'s.

Could you post it here in the code tags?

Code:
.attachbox .attachments {
   clear:left;
   font-size:0.9em;
   margin-left:10px;
   padding:0;
   display: inline-block;
   }
.attachbox dl.file {
   border-top: 1px solid #131313;
   display:block;
   font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
   margin-bottom:10px* {
    ma
 }
      ul. topiclist {
    color:  #FFFFFF;
}
a. forumtitle {
    color:  #FFFFFF;
}
.content {
    color:  #FFFFFF;
}

I posted abit of the end of the stylesheet and u can see there where i added the text u suggested there in the end and I added a } as u can see after the "ma" before the text i copied in u posted as there was none there and assumed had to be a } before the newly posted text, as it didn't work even before i added the }

Here is the error:
Code:
.attachbox dl.file {
  border-top: 1px solid #131313;
  display:block;
  font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
  margin-bottom:10px* {
    ma
 }
Replace it with this:
Code:
.attachbox dl.file {
  border-top: 1px solid #131313;
  display:block;
  font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
  margin-bottom:10px;
 }

Now that worked and saved the change successfully, but I've now added the text color code of my choosing but nothing gets changed, it still remains the same blue color of the forum title and abit darker blue-gray color of the text of the forums description as in the picture of the original post. :S

Why does it haft to be this complicated? Why doesn't the changes at the "colors" section take in to effect when changed ?

Solved Re: Forum Color change Problem - Phpbb3

Post by ryz on July 20th 2013, 9:31 pm

Solved.

I searched the keyword "forum" via the search and found this:

Code:
/* Links-----------------------------------------------------*/
a:link{
    color: #368ad2;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
a:visited{
    color: #368ad2;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
a:active{
    color: #368ad2;
    text-decoration: underline;
    }
a:hover{
    color: #5c758c;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
a.forumtitle {
   color: #FFFFFF;
   font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
   font-size: 1.2em;
   font-weight: bold;
   text-decoration: none;
   }
a.forumtitle:hover {
   color: #5c758c;
   text-decoration: underline;
   }
a.forumtitle:active {
    color: #368ad2;
    }
a.topictitle {
   font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
   font-size: 1.1em;
   font-weight: bold;
   color: #368ad2;
   text-decoration: none;
   }
div.topic-title-container {
   display: inline;
   }
.topic-title {
   display: inline;
   font-size: 12px;
   text-align: left;
   }
.topic-title-post {
   }
a.topictitle:hover {
   color: #5c758c;
   text-decoration: underline;
   }
a.topictitle:active {
    color: #368ad2;
    }

And found the color i wanted changed. Stupid of me of not thinking of going by finding it that way, but still i find it really troubling especially for new people that the "colors" section option color changer does not work and you haft to actually go into the css stylesheet to get it changed properly, what's the use of the "colors" section when it simply does not work at some of the certain if not all color option changers, Thanks for trying to help me SLGray, it led me to find it out myself by some simple logic which i probably should have thought about, but as a none experienced css stylesheet coder, it's not that easy to find the right line of code to change.

Thanks for posting the solution. The reason why the Colors section doe snot work sometimes is that creators of themes use CSS.
