I was thinking about the issue of spambots lately because I have had many register on my forum.

My suggestion:

A new option be added to the ban feature where we can send to Forumotion the spambots'  usernames, IP addresses, and email addresses.

Maybe there could be a button on the page after you ban someone that will load a page that you can fill out the information about a spambot or have it where it is automatically filled out.  After filling out the forum, you can press the send button which will add the spambot to your ban list and send a report to Forumotion.

I thought about false reports, too. I would say if Forumotion receives atleast 10 reports about the same person, then the person could be considered a true spambot.

That is actually a pretty good Idea, I recently had to take care of a few spam bots that registered to one of my forums. I'm sure it could be handy, but there's also the chance of false reports.

Perhaps if forumotion receives multiple reports of identical information(IP, email, username) from different forums that, could help verify the reports of a spam bot. Whereas false reports would be ignored.

Due to the confidential nature of this, the company will only allow this to be done via PM. I'd expect a staff member to know this.

This form would be neglected by the devs, and would easily be abused. 
Keeping this to PM's via a Pro-Admin would be best.

I think Pro-Boards have this feature, where you can report via a page spambots. It has worked well by their account.

Personally I open up my forum to spambots as the spam protection in place is too overpowering. The username option does work but it blocks simple usernames like Fred and Niko.

So personally I would actually welcome this and it would be abused horribly but to be honest if they implemented any system of reporting it would be abused.

Yes, this could be abused. That is the reason why I edited my first post and add information about false spambots (10 reports).

Thanks.   It also could help Forumotion with making a list of spammers/spambots.

I feel that this would be a great idea to implement into ForuMotion forums as this will help people deal with spambots faster and help ForuMotion keep their sites clean. So my vote for this is yes.

This shouldn't be suggested, it should be done lol, we need to get rid of spambots who take up valuable user space for real users.

A big yes ! we had also spambots on our forum,
it was hell to manually delete all posts, but back in 2006, FM (french board, as the forum was in french) stated that there is not much that they could have done back then, but that we had to remove pots by hand, or block by hand each spammer...

Of course a big no, was to allow guests from posting and to remove the quick reply... a thing that was not done if i remember, so to sum up, had we had such a system back then we could have benefited from it...

Excellent idea it looks an like IPB function "XX Spammers/Spambots Stopped". As an additional function it can be add it in forum statistics too and displaying the number of spammers/spambots which stopped like this:

I believe this will help Forumotion with their blacklist of spammers/spambots.  Have you noticed all the spammers/spambots recently on the support forum?  All they have to do is press the website link in our profiles to visit and spam our forums.

I've noticed all of them recently, and as of now seeing spambots mostly in the support section. That's why I bumped this post. This would really be helpful especially when all the staffs are offline and as a concerned member, all we have to do is to report the spams.
