Introduce yourself automatically Garbaged?

I have often wondered why Forumotion help forum have on the Home page, under useful links ...Introduce yourself, and then when used, automatically Garbage and lock the topic?  Has a member of the staff an explanation for this?

If you mean the 'Introduce yourself' topic link, it's redirected to a thread where you can post an introduction of yourself, I don't understand what you're asking? Can you explain more.
