Solved Chat box Commands

Post by Royer Blaze on 3/6/2015, 02:58

I was wondering if it'd be possible to add a chat box command for a d6 dice roll instead of using the dice roll feature via posts.

*Edited* Is there possibly a JavaScript that'd allow me to add a dice roll feature to my chatbox?

Yes, it's perfectly possible to add new commands in chat, but show me an example of how it should be the one you want ok?
It can be an image (PrtScr) for example ...

I was hoping for something along the lines of a /roll command, or [roll] in the chat box and it'll roll a d6 for me. I do have some icons made that look like dice that I could use as images.

I'm wanting to avoid using the roll via post if I can help it.

I'd love to add a /roll command to my chat. So that the system rolls the dice (a d6 in this case) and shows the roll in chat that way there is no cheating. I have some dice icons that I made up that could be used in the place of a roll total showing up. Or do you mean them taking a screenshot of their roll?

I've been trying fruitlessly for the last couple of days to google search something, but have came up empty handed each time. I've found plenty of dice rollers however, but they are on a page and not want I'm looking for.

Sorry to be difficult.

@Royer Blaze
Hello!
Assuming that the command is /dice or /roll, what is the syntax you would use and the result would use images?

Excuse me for not longer seen the topic, you did not mention my nickname...

@JScript

Either /dice or /roll would work. I'd like it to be a d6 roll, and I have image/icons that I made that I could use or if it'd generate a post saying the roll, similar to how it works via posting on a thread. Wanting to be able to play a dice game in the chat without using the thread posting dice roll.

And thanks for the reply, and sorry that I didn't space it out enough. I usually check nightly after work.

Solved Re: Chat box Commands

Post by Royer Blaze on 27/6/2015, 05:56

Bump

Wanted to be more clear, so I could possibly get some help.

I'm wanting to add a Dice Roll Command to my Chat Box that I have set up on my forum. I don't mind if it uses images, as I have some dice 'avatars' that I have made to use for that should they be needed. As long as its generated at random to allow for fairness.

I know there is a RP Dice Roll function on the forums, but I'm not wanting to use that, as I am wanting to use it solely in my chat box for members to play in real time.

If there isn't anyway to add a command like this, please let me know. I've tried searching off and on for a few weeks now, but the closest I've gotten is finding an old mod that is for phpbb2.

Solved Re: Chat box Commands

Post by Ange Tuteur on 7/7/2015, 11:12

Hi @Royer Blaze,

I apologize for the late reply. I can't give you a definitive answer, but I can provide you with some information.

For one, any modifications to the chatbox cannot be installed through JavaScript codes management. It's not impossible though, as you CAN access the frame contents from wherever it's installed, although this can require constant polling to ensure that the added content doesn't get removed.

It's absolutely possible to create a dice rolling feature with JavaScript, although it depends on how complex you want it. This is a simple example that can be applied to an HTML page :
Code:

The same method can be applied to the Chatbox, but as I said before, it depends on how complex you want it.
