Option to put your forum in permanent maintenance

Post by Guest on August 16th 2015, 8:15 am

Hello, I think there should be an option where you could put your forum in maintenance mode until you're ready to release it. For example, if you were working on something that took more for 7 days you could make it permanent.

This used to be the case actually, it used to be you just ticked 'yes' for forum is maintenance and then hit save. Then it would just stay that way until you ticked it to 'No' and saved. Somewhere along the way, they changed that and made it so it can only go up to 7 days. Therefore, while I would love to see this come back and be the case once more, if they changed it from that when it was like that, then I don't see them changing it back.

I would vote yes to this though, as I did like it when the feature was like that back in the day.

I believe you are thinking about another forum provider.  I believe it was not set that way before the new update.  It was only set for a day (24 hours).

No no slg, I very clearly remmeber that it was a simple tick yes or no and save type of thing. This whole limit thing is newish. I remmeber the little things well, especially if I like them, that feature was thing I remmeber fairly well is that it was a simple yes and no system.

P.s I have also never created a forum with any other service then forumotion, as it was luckily the first free hosting provider for forums I can across on google Wink.

The first topic says maintenance (holiday) which is different from construction.

Construction mode is pretty much forumotion's maintence mode, holidag mode will just make it so no one but admins can post and it wont allow new users to join. It will allow users to access the site though.
