Solved Avatar Frames only for Specific people

Post by Samanar on July 11th 2017, 10:35 pm

Hi,

I know you can frame every avatar, but I was wondering whether there was a way to frame certain people's avatars, say as a reward for donating/achieving something on the forum. I'd imagine it'd be a CSS code that points to their profile url (eg. /u22), because that's the way you give certain people sparkling/glowing names. Not sure whether the avatars would work the same though. blackeye

Either way, thanks for any help.

Hello @Samanar,

So you are looking for a code for Phpbb3 correct? And do you want all of his/her avatars to be like that? I mean in all pages? Or only in the posts and in the index?

My bad, turns out all this time I've had Phpbb2 instead of 3 which is probably why that's not working. Sorry for the confusion, you don't happen to know one that works with Phpbb2 instead? blackeye

Not worked blackeye To clarify it would be put in like this wouldn't it?
Code:
span.postdetails.poster-profile a[href="/u1"] img { http://i.imgur.com/BqBwqwj.png }

I'm not sure if the URL is missing any speech marks or something to make it a URL.

Also my forum address is:http://www.convergencerp.net/
And this is the user I'm testing the frames on:http://www.convergencerp.net/u1

Hi,

Your code is not correct. Replace it with this:
Code:
[alt="avatar"][src="avatar link"]{
border: 4px solid transparent;
-webkit-border-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/BqBwqwj.png) 30 round; /* Safari 3.1-5 */
-o-border-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/BqBwqwj.png) 30 round; /* Opera 11-12.1 */
border-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/BqBwqwj.png) 30 round; /* Chrome, Firefox etc */
}
You can replace 4(from
Code:
4px solid transparent;
) with another number to change the position of the border) and of course you can replace the image's link(http://i.imgur.com/BqBwqwj.png).
Also you have to replace avatar link with the link of the avatar of the person who's avatar you want to put a border around(or as you say, frame it).

Solved Re: Avatar Frames only for Specific people

Firstly, I'm looking to give only specific people frames, this code gives them to everyone. Secondly, it doesn't quite seem to frame the picture itself, if the 'px' value is too large it leaves a large gap, but decreasing it makes the border almost invisible (example seen here : http://www.convergencerp.net/t1763-welcome-to-season-4#10541 )

The second issue may be due to the image, but if there is a way to make this only for specific members (defined by their /u1 URL like the code Luffy gave) that would be great.

Just saw you edit, but the second issue still stands. The borders look very thin and practically invisible.
Also, in the avatar link am I putting there profile like (/u1) or there actual image link?

Avatar link has to be replaced with the link to the user's avatar.
About the issue with the border being too thin, try this code:
Code:
[alt="avatar"][src="avatar link"]{
border:2px solid red;
}
Red can be replaced with a color name or a color code(like #f2f2f2, white, black etc.). Basically instead of using a image as a border you are using a color. This is the best and easiest mode to solve the second issue.

It turns out this start to the code fixed the specific user issue:
Code:
a[href="/u1"] [alt="avatar"] {

And thanks, I'll stick to colours for now and play around with some settings. Smile

Using
Code:
a[href="/u1"] [alt="avatar"] {
will create some issues. For example, the border won't display here:http://www.convergencerp.net/u1
