New: Newsletters "Popular Contents" Empty New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"

Post by The Godfather Wed Jan 31, 2018 6:11 am

    Hello,

To encourage your users to interact with the popular content of your forum, we have implemented a new feature: Newsletters "Popular contents"

This new feature (compatible only with forums with UTF-8 encoding) allows to automatically generate a newsletter with the current forum popular content and send it to users. Very Happy

Unlike the classic newsletter, the newsletter "Popular Content" is not editable because it reflects in real time the most active content of the moment on your forum. Wink

The administrator can manage this newsletter "Popular contents" from its Administration Panel > General > Newsletter - Write and send : frame Newsletters "Popular contents"

    New: Newsletters "Popular Contents" 31-01-10

Like any Forumotion newsletter, each user has obviously from his profile, the ability to change the reception preferences of this newsletter.

    New: Newsletters "Popular Contents" 31-01-11

    Forumotion Team king

Note that currently, the newsletter feature "Popular Contents" is only in demonstration mode to give you an idea of the rendering of this newsletter on emails. It will be functional on the first forums from late February 2018 with a sending every 15 days.

Although I love the idea . To bring more interest to popular contents .

This is going to be a problem for me .

I already know for sure that this will not be acceptable to around 285 of the sites 293 users .
I have the users divided up into various groups . None of which are active . I have enabled the newsletter for these users . So that I may send everyone 1 Season's Greetings on New Years each year .

I know for sure that they are not and will not be interested in receiving these newsletters . And the newsletters are likely to cause many terminated accounts .

If that is the case so be it . My intention was to allow them infinite membership . Without them having to receive continual mail .

I don't really care . If it bothers them . So what .

    I like the newsletter a lot .

This was sent out to my members in the middle of the night DESPITE the fact that the setting in my Admin panel was set to NO to prevent popular content newsletters being sent.

How can I ensure that these are NEVER sent if your settings do not appear to work properly?????

I DID read the first post - did you read mine?

You state in the first post that
The administrator can manage this newsletter "Popular contents" from its Administration Panel > General > Newsletter - Write and send : frame Newsletters "Popular contents" - my forum settings were set to NO. So whatever the individual user settings were set to, the newsletter should not have been sent, but it was. What are you going to do to fix this?

Your reply had nothing to do with what I asked. The functionality has obviously already been implemented as my members got a mailing last night.

I think what SLGray may be trying to say is, the feature is not 100% online yet, while it does function by sending out the newsletter, the acp options and such may not be fully online and working yet.

Now I would like to make a suggestion that may help, depending on whether the option is working or not serverside. Try first setting the option to yes, save. Then go back and set it to no and save. Sometimes our system does not always completely save your settings serverside. Doing what I just told you should help if that is indeed the case. Of course if the problem is everything is not completely online yet, this won't help much.

That's a generous interpretation of what SLGray might have been trying to say - but thanks for your intelligible intervention. I will try your suggestion but if your system doesn't save settings server-side it might have been more useful to fix that before introducing new features.

Can you confirm that these newsletters, if used, will be ad-free?

Then I got off topic when I posted about not receiving replies that I ended up finding in SPAM . I stayed off topic when I mentioned the deletion issue .
I admitted that and apologized .

You can accept that or continue to string me along . Because I will take the bait . Your choice .

Really disappointed in forumotion for this. My members all received a totally useless email - spamming them. The email has old and outdated posts and annoyed quite a lot of members as I already send out my own monthly newsletter (one that I can actually tailor specifically).

Hello @Tansy Firedragon as you can see if you read this part posted in the First thread you can turn this off in your ACP and like SLGray has said in the profiles also you DON'T need to have this on if you don't want it.
