Adobe Flash Player Ending

By the end of December 2020, Adiobe Flash Payer will be at its end of life. All downloads for it will be removed from their sites.

When I turned on my computer today, I got a popup message from Adobe to uninstall it. Microsoft states there will be an update to remove it completely during the Fall of 2020.

Most browsers have started or finished the process of moving away from it.

This will be sad for some game sites that used Flash Player to work.

I also remember when Mozilla Firefox used Flash Player and how many times the plugin failed (this was very annoying)

But it was about time ... Flash Player is old and many browsers no longer use it (they even report it as insecure)

Microsoft will end support for Adobe Flash Player on 31 December 2020, along with Adobe and their other industry partners.

This means that starting January 2021, customers will no longer receive security updates for support for Adobe Flash Player. Microsoft will also take steps to remove Flash from the Windows operating system

Here's what you can expect for each Microsoft browser:

Flash is currently disabled by default in the new Microsoft Edge.
However, users may re-enable it on a site-by-site basis through December of 2020.

In January 2021, Flash will be fully removed from the new Microsoft Edge.

Flash will  not be disabled by default from the legacy version of Microsoft Edge (built on EdgeHTML) or Internet Explorer 11 prior to its removal in December of 2020.

The update to remove it was released on October 27, 2020. You have to go to the MIcrosoft Catalog to get it. In the catalog, it is dated October 26, 2020.

Well folks Adobe Flash is officially dead, December 31st marked the last day it was supported. RIP Adobe Flash you had a good run, but it is time for better, more secure coding standards. Wink

P.s If anyone still has any remaining Adobe Flash codes on their forum, I would recommend going ahead and removing them, as any day now Adobe will publish an update to permanently remove flash from devices which will render this code useless.

everything is coming to an end ... as happened with Google+, Yahoo Messenger !, or Inbox by Gmail ... I think the next one will be skype, since nobody is using it ... let's be serious, we're not in the past (anymore), we are in the future, the codes change day by day, and the platforms improve day by day ...

I agree with you @Mihai about Skype being the next one!
They already dismissed Skype for Business in favor of Microsoft Teams, and probably Skype will be the next one as well Embarassed

skype was very popular in its time, when it had the old interface, it was very successful, and facebook was not very successful at that time (as far as I remember), after that came the discord platform, where it is used by almost half of people

I remember using Skype in the past, and from what I remember, I know there was an announcement somewhere that Skype was supposed to shut down a long time ago, and I think in the future, I think the decision will be one: the final!

Since yahoo was sold to the verzion media, yahoo`s changes was just the logo, the rest of the website is the same... skype will be next, and then yahoo! mail (since nobody is using it anymore)

Adobe Flash Player may have ended, but many are working on preserving the many flash games that were released throughout the years. I'm happy people are coming together to preserve this part of internet history!

I am using Firefox. The add-ons are these for video/game playing: OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. and Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc.. I have had no issues with them.

There are some gaming sites that will not work since they use flash players, but they are working on it.

There really is not one.

However, there is a website that is run by some freelance programmers who have preserved and archived many flash games and have made their own self contained version of flash so that the games can be played. You have to download their program (which contains a list of games you can download and play within it) and then you can play any of the available games on their list. You will only be able to play it within their program, their flash environment does not work outside of the program like in a web browser or anything like that.

Unfortunately if there is a game not on the list that is flash there is nothing you can do to play it. If a website or game has not been switched over to newer coding standards like html5, Java, etc. yet then it probably never well.

Does anyone know if a deprecated and un-updated version of Internet Explorer would still be able to run a Flash game if the computer is kept offline?

Are you using Windows? If yes, there should have been updates to remove the Flash Player completely. So I really do not think a flash game would work at all.

Thanks! for this. I gave them a quick scan. Just when I was about to settle for Flash Emulators as my only option. Soooo excited that I may actually get to see some of the old FinalFantasy Flash and Transformers Flash games preserved/restored
