Force website link on registering here

Post by Guest on December 8th 2008, 2:51 am

Ok I have seen hundreds of topics for people asking for help but when I look for their site globe link it isnt there which makes me have to post and ask for a link to their site instead of possibly answering thier request.

I propose we force them to put in their link in order to register here.

Now for those who dont have a site, well leave that up to Caihlem to figure out.

I vote yes, because, people fake that stuff. It is really hard to go in the graphic request topics and say 'Please add a link to your forum' over and over again.

I wouldn't like it.
Just an invitation for trolls etc.
Seems to be the rule is if you ask for help, and it requires a "look" then you will need to provide it.

Well, than they could just do this type of thing(Nothing there, just "about:blank"

@trevor wrote:Well, no link, no help.
Thats harsh, is it not? HARSH!

Yes, its a good idea, but those with-out a forum and wont to see how tips and tricks are done, they wouldn't be able to get in

And in the case of MrMario, yes..he does not wish to show people his forum's address, what would happen then?

Voted yet Very Happy

I think it's not harsh, because sometimes you can't help somebody without his forumlink.
Sometimes it is necessary to see the forum, because otherwise you can't explane it.

I voted no. Its their choice whether they like to put a link to their forum or not. And forcing people into something = bad.

I kind of think it could be helpful in keeping spammers away in a sense, no? I mean why else would you sign up at the support forum if you didn't have a forum that you need support with, like Cherry says, seems logical, no?

Nort really Razz
I didn't, and still don't, have a forum for a long time, yet I'm still here

Another position;
I have two forums, one's fine, the other's screwed.
I ask for help, no luck, the forum in my profile is the good one....

On-topic: Anyway, this is a support forum where people seek support for their forums. Also, this would keep away spammers as well. (Well, a little)

Can't even fart without people going haywire can i? Dawa
(This doesn't expect an answer but personal reflection Wink)

If I was a spammer and I had to insert a forum address, I'd stick in any random forum.
If I didn't want my forum to be known (say I had a private forum), I'd stick in any random forum.

This isn't about helping me, but about this suggestion. I'm not going to veto it, but clearly I'm not for it Wink

true, but than we can go check out that users account and forum, and if it isnt forumotion, it can be reported to Caihlem and you would take it from there and possably ban then.
You see my point?

EDIT: Fix my quote, sorry Caihlem...I couldnt resit having "funny man" there
