No post count/Disabling post count on a particular forum

Post by Waddle50008 on July 16th 2007, 4:00 pm

First topic message reminder :

I suggest their Be a button in options that you can choose that will disable the post count for users so that when a users posts something, their "Posts:" will not rise.

I'd like this, but only if we can enable it where we can disable the post count for different forums/catergories like 'The Spam Out' section or the 'Introduction section or something.

This particular feature was basically built in for IPB but I guess forumotion didn't implement it. O well. Let's just hope they will. bwi

I was wondering if I could find it in the admin panel but I guess it isn't implemented yet. Due to "too much spam" and having certain parts of the forum in which post count shouldn't matter, this would be awesome.

I'm searching for this in Forum motion more than anything.

This is a very important feature. Disabling post count for different forums.

It shouldn't be too hard to code if my inexperience with coding is correct. I'm quite a pro at VB and it has to be somewhat similar to the coding forumotion uses..

A variable for post count += 0 when the user posts rather than += 1? I know this is probably completely irrelevant to the coding Forumotion uses but it is worth typing up.

I voted yes.
This is a much needed option.
And I am sure that most admins would want to use it if it were to be implemented.

By the way, why isn't it implemented yet?
Are the staff working on it?
Are they paying attention to this thread?
What are they doing about this?

It's already been a YEAR (well almost, I think)

I voted no.

You can use the point system to do that.

And I prefer the post number to be the post number.

Sorry I voted no on this one, the post count system is a good idea, this is almost as mandatory for new users as an active reputatio0n system.

What do you mean point system?!?!
The post count and point system are two different things.
Post count is the number of all the posts that a user has made(In case you don't know this).
Points are for a whole different purpose, for most people they use it in their forum shops.

And why would you even vote No?!?
It is just an option. If you want to use the point system then don't use this. There's no harm done to you if you vote yes because it is just an option. Even if this gets implemented, and you don't want to use it then don't, because it is just an option.
It's an option, you can choose whether you use it or not, because it's an option.

I really hope you understood that one, I reiterate just to make sure that you understood it.

Re: No post count/Disabling post count on a particular forum

Post by Bleudrgn2010 on June 18th 2009, 5:11 am

I was looking for this option quite a lot today... The fact is, some people go on forums and view their post count as an extension of their person. It can't be helped, they just do it. Some people will spam certain areas like if you have a spam forum just to increase their post count; you want that forum to be fun, not about increasing post count. That's why this option is important. I'm thinking about deleting my Spam forum, and not being able to have that fun, because people will spam it purely to get their post count up. :\

And plus, as Aries109 said multiple times, it's just an option. You don't HAVE to use it. I really hope this is implemented soon.

They haven't got this up yet. Come on, I can't start my forums without the Forum Games Sector, which is totally spammy. Get this started up already! It's been almost half a year that this thread was started Razz
