What is the limit for a profile image list?

I want to add a profile field with a list of 278 world flags. Just like on this site, but with more flags of course. But before I start, I would like to know the limitation of each image list field.

Also having 278 images is going to make the page extremely long... Is there any way I can put the images inside a drop box?

............I see this is starting to look like one of those topics that nobody helps with and the topic starter just keeps bumping the topic getting no help for days and weeks. Wheres the support people! This should be easy to answer for the staff on here..
