Include A Tablesless Template?
tablesless templates
I suggest that there should be at least one tablesless template. The reason
is that we could modify it through our own css file. Thus everyone could have
its own unique design.
In addition it would quite faster for the servers to serv such a template!

Re: tablesless templates
Nop Tristou, xhtml compliant is not necessery to have tablesless templates! However, since you mentioned it, this would be in favor of the owners of this service. This is because Html is to be removed in the near future be next generation browsers! In addition pages will be a lot smaller in KBs AND
it is not required to have many diferent templates since you only need different stysheets. This will give the ability to pressent unlimited css based designs!
The <div> tag exists long before xhtml was implemented on the web. So is css.

Re: tablesless templates
I meant, the tableless template is one of the characteristics of xHTML 1.1
Well, I think you should add a poll, as Caihlem said, to avoid a lock of this topic

Re: tablesless templates
I like the idea, however could the edit system handle it?
However the CSS is full editable, but be carefull, if you wish to know how to edit it, post a topic in the Support thread.

Nop its irrelevant!!! It is not one of its characteristics!
XHTML is HTML with XML in one Mark-up Language! You could say it
XML HTML 1.1 it is the same! One could Design tablesless tamplates
since the excistense of CSS!
The system would run much faster! too much of code (for use with tables)
would be removed
Re: tablesless templates
I think this might be a reasonable idea, you could shuffle things around so you get a unique look, but the servers might not be able to cope with the different designs. I vote no.

I would like more information because I don't understand the difference between a language which only use block and CSS and your proposition

Re: tablesless templates
hello again!!!
The problem is mainly solved since the phpbb3 is mostly tablesless.
Now on to the question of tristou.
XHTML does not use only blocks and CSS actully css is not needed at all for certain applications of xhtml.
xthml is a combination of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and HTML...
It uses everything tha HTML 4 has plus it has the ability to include XML inside tha same code.
Now CSS is something extra! CSS does not relate with either language, it just STYLES them. If you have knowledge of QuarkXpress then it is quite the same.
CSS is a stylling information that can be used with many languages to style their content. CSS can be used with actionscript also!
Thus, CSS it is not a part of XHTML...
CSS can also define the way well stractured XML can be style or presented. It is not as powerful for XML as is XSL though.
Now CSS defines classes, tags, selectors, rules. It can style the same way an XHTML document and an HTML document.
for example...
the above code can either be defined as an XHTML document or an HTML document! The result will be completly the same!
the tags div, span etc. are defined exactly the same way in both XHTML and HTML!
finishing, XHTML is just a cleader and stricter version of HTML combined with XML
thats all
for more info look at w3schools

Re: tablesless templates
I think this should be done on the support section.
