Fourm restore

Recently one of my moderators took it upon themselves to start deleting topics. I was absolutely livid. Needless to say, he/she is no longer a moderator and has even been banned by ip, email and username. Nevertheless, my topics are still gone. I want to use the security back-up (ap > general > security) to restore the topics. However, I do not want my most recent topics and post to disappear. If I restore back to a chosen date, will the topics created since that date be removed or will the deleted topics just be restored without affecting the new topics and post?
