I want to update my forum from phpbb2 to phpbb3 but when i get to the forum version tab, it says:

You defined a personalized style sheet, if you change version it will be deleted and the version default style will be applied.

I don't want to lose my whole theme, is there some way i can get around this?

Download your theme in Admin panel/display/skins/theme management.

yes but the theme would only work for phpbb2 forums.
You can copy your css sheet.

In that case, copy it, and paste it all in notepad or what have you.
