pop-up ads
We have an ad-free boards. When I am posting, periodically an ad will pop up. Especially, when I click 'send'. I know that it is coming from here, because it happens only when I have just the forum open.
Is this common?
Best,
Felicity

Hi,
No this shouldn't be happening?
Could you please post a link to your board.
Have you removed your adds via Misc > Adds > For all or just to show for members.

Could you PM me with a test account to check this out for myself please?
EDIT: Hmm, now your forum is also under maintenance?

Yes, maintenance over now. Just a note. I use SeaMonkey. Could the adds be coming from there? They pop up quickly before I can really see them and remain open in a new window. I actually see them when I close the board window. that just doesn't sound like the type of ads used here.
I will email you.

Re: pop-up ads
With the post I made, I didnt get any adds to pop up after posting.
I'm thinking it's coming from the browser.
Have you personally tried another browser, other than FF?

Re: pop-up ads
well i dont know? Because i noticed what appeared to be a pop-out add on someones forum yesterday when i was doing support here.
But i am not sure if it is something they have put on there either.
But i know forumotion never had any pop-out add before and did not hear anything about them adding them either.
So if you happen to see them again please try to get a screen shot so we can try to determine where they may be coming from.

Re: pop-up ads
It is always from the same url - also came up with FF - haven't tried IE. But, doesn't come up when on other places on the web. Seemingly, just here.
thanks so much.
Re: pop-up ads
Did you add the url to the block of the ad blocker?

Re: pop-up ads
It didn't work, but I think it is coming from FF and SeaMonkey. Not sure, but I think I saw on pop up on another site. Thanks.
Re: pop-up ads
There are no such things on Forumotion about pop ups. Think your computer is doing this. Best thing is to get Ad Blocker on FireFox.

Re: pop-up ads
I am getting reports from members of other ads coming on our board. I am awaiting them to send me more information.
Re: pop-up ads
Yes others are getting the same adds from the same company - do I need to tell everyone to block that url - it is quite active.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: pop-up ads
Your picture has this SeaMonkey add-on in the URL. You should disable the add-on, that's what appears to be causing it.felicity4us2 wrote:

Re: pop-up ads
Okay - wow - found it. We have a 'yell-box' on the board - that's where they are coming from - thank you so much for your help. I never thought that members would be getting popup adds from that. I will go pay for it now.
