poll on homepage?

how do i put poll on hopepage, so people know to go there?

On the Portal or the forum? You can do this by going to the widget management and looking for poll. Clicking save once you dragged your widget to the side then going to modify and picking poll option.

This can be done through a widget from the portal or index, just follow what BeBot said.
