ip banning ?

ip banning ? Empty ip banning ?

Hi, I have had to ban my first person on my forum , it shows they have a range of ips so do i just ban the last ip they used or do i ban the whole range ?
Can someone explain in simple terms please,

It would be most advisable to ban all the IPs this person uses, as well as their email address(es).

Go to Admin Panel>Advanced>Users & Groups>Users>Ban Control>Ban an IP address>place the IP in the window provided. You can add your reasons for banning if you wish but it isn't completely necessary. The same with the date. ClicK Add.

To ban the email address click on to Ban an email address & repeat the above actions, using the email address. Click Add.

to ban all there ips I take it i swap the lasts no. with * , and if I do this it wont affect anyone elses ip ?

Yes, it will affect other IPs, so if you do not want to affect anyone else's IP address, in this particular range of IPs, then you would not be able to use the * as a joker for the last block of numbers. You will have to use the entire IP address of the banned member & no joker. Repeat this for all their IP addresses.

The only time I use the * is for known spam IPs.

there are 32 ip's from this user do i do each one , one by one or is there a way of doing them all in one go ?

32!!!! I'm afraid so, if you want to avoid banning other people in the same IP range. Copy & pasting each one would make it easier.
