Domain stops functioning...daily
Hey guys,
It sounds wierd but I have no idea of how to make a long-term solution to this as of right now. The problem is that we got a new domain recently: www.13thmeu.net from godaddy.com. We put it in (which took like weeks to figure out) but now, almost like clockwork at 9:19PM EST (or at least somewhere in between 9-10PM EST), the domain stops working and instead redirects to this link: https://www.forumotion.com/en/search/www.13thmeu.net
So, our short term fix is to go back on our old URL: www.13thmeu.forumn.org > go in the admin panel and change the personalized domain name (it sees it as none after this happens) to www.13thmeu.net .
But, after another 24 hours, it will continue to happen. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
George

Well, we'll contact GoDaddy on some information too, but....the thing is is that it redirects to a forumotion search page, not a Godaddy search page.
Anyone ever experience this?

So, I should get in contact with Go-daddy? And the time is more around 9:14PM EST.
Did it happen before?

It still happens to us every 24 hours though
Since the Spring Ahead time change, it now happens at 10:14 PM EST, not 9:14.

Its possibly the time when your forum is getting backed up.

Well that makes a little sense
Any idea on when it could stop and ugh...anything I could do manually to help or something. What can I do when going in the backup - I don't really want to mess with anything that I don't know too much about.

You don't have to do anything. We can't avoid it.

Hmm, well I'm understanding a bit more about this backup thing. So, my friend says the site is following a pattern when backing up and that the backups are done in 24 hour increments. Is this correct?
Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
Yes Backups are done everyday.

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
Aww, well today, the domain expiration thingy happened earlier than 10:14 EST. When I got back from a server raid at 9;47PM EST, it was already expired. Maybe it reverted back and adjusted itself to the current time?
And ugh, would anything like getting a new domain help?
Thanks

Sorry for bringing this back up; we're just seeing if there's anything we can do (besides keeping the domain)
I saw in the home page of the admin panel there was a domain information tab. I clicked on it and I clicked on 'modify' in the tab that said about www.13thmeu.net . I clicked that and it gave me this information:
Alright scratch that, Just went to Misc, Credits Management, Spend Credits, Domain. It says: (copy and pasted exactly)
Currently, your forum address is : http://www.13thmeu.net
Your domain name expires in : -131 Day
"-131 Day" is in Red, this would make me thing that its in negative territory or something. It says we can renew it for 1600 credits. What would happen?
Thanks

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
Since you bought the domain name from Godaddy it wasn't bought from us. You shouldn't be seeing this. I would continue to look at your days left on Godaddy's side.

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
It says 306 days left in godaddy. We got it February 10th. We might just get another domain. Is there any way to know or whatever that if we got another domain, would this happen?
Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
If you buy it from us, no.

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
Hey again,
Sorry for bringing this back up, but we are really trying to tackle this issue.
So, would something as simple as selling our current domain and buying it under forumotion work?
Thanks

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
That depends on whether selling your domain name still makes it available for forumotion to buy.

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
I am trying to figure that out with Godaddy right now. But is there a way we can transfer the domain? And also (going along with the backup thing) is there a way we can disable auto backup?
Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
There isn't away to transfer domain from another host to here. Backups can't be stopped.

Re: Domain stops functioning...daily
Hmmm....what if we bought a domain from here, but used a slight variation. Like our site is www.13thmeu.net
What if we used 13thmeuHQ.net , would 13thmeu.net still be activated or something. Like could we use it as a redirection link or something? I'm not sure what I mean for this.... :o
