Open Group with member adding themselves without Administrator

Is there an ability for a member to add themselves to an open group (or similar) without any Administrator approval.

This would allow the members the ability to "assist" other members on a regional basis.
Then other members could send PMs to the members of the regional group as needed.

Yes there is....in the groups properties you have option auto-subscribe, that will enable auto join to your group when i member register him self

You could also set the group to "Open" which means, anyone who wants to join the group, can. This requires no approval.

Actually, Darren, you're wrong.

The group moderator will need to accept any requests in an opened group.

With an Open Group without Auto-subscribe, the member must request access to a group then the request must be approved before joining.
With an Open Group with Auto-subscribe, the member does not have to request access to group, then the member is automatically joined to the group (if exceeds criteria).

Is there an ability for a member to request access to a group then the request automatically approved without any Moderator approval.

For example, if a member is willing to assist other traveling members with repairs, breakdowns or other problem in a region. The person offering assistance can then add (or remove) themselves to special "Regional Assistance Group" without any Moderator approval.

Same thing for a "Regional Travel Group", which would allow them to see a hidden "Regional Travel Group Forum" while they are planning or traveling in an region.

Auto-subscribe would make all members members of all groups automatically ... so it would be helpful if a member could request and get automatic approval so they could manage their groups based on their travel plans or willing to assist.

I believe at this time, it is not possible.

The only way would be for the members to join when they can help and then unjoin.

slg is correct. Like I said before, the group moderator will need to accept any requests in an opened group.
