Meta Tags

I have just checked with MSN webmaster section, and it said my site is no longer validated. I have tried to put the validation code in the new section called additional meta tags but its not being picked up.

What should I be putting in 'name attribute' and 'content attribute' because I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Yeah....i have same problem. Actually my meta tags works fine until last friday when my forum get updated without reason. Now I have same problem like you. Google web tools generate my tags but i cant put it anywhere.

I am afraid that in not temporarly, becouse I trying to fix it over a few days.

I solve my problems with restoring forum. Everything is back, display, favicon.... except meta tags, becouse there is new way to insert tags and cant figure out how to use it.

Well, in my case I restore (what a hell) but I dont have any post in a meantime, if I have posts, will do any way.

Still trying to fix it, but without any progress. I think that nobody knows how to fix it, somebody fck up with new update, now dot know how to fix it !!!

I dont see my site on google because they dont have tags...LOOL
And if I dont figured out how to make tags, my site never gonna be on web browser!!!

Now.... there is one solution, but we dont have access to ftp
You create html file with text editor and upload her to root directory of your site,and verify with google.... but nobody gonna give us access....

I put my tag again.
I havent specified meta tag type.
It just stayed unspecified and it works.

This is a big problem because we are all trying to be seen on the web so that we can draw traffic to our sites, however is it not possible to create a html page or download a web template and edit the page source and add meta tags and then somehow redirect your address to the page and on this page you would have your forum link somewhere : ) Bypassing all of this confussion until the problem was solved by the tech team. not trying to be a brain wizard or anything im actually a begginer when it comes to codes and stuff, but would anyone know if this is possible to do.

I believe i found a way to add Meta Tags It worked great for me i hope it works for you as well.

Simply go to: Admin Panel/Display/Generalities

Step One:Click Actions



Step Two: Keep the create a "Meta" tag type and hit select



Step Three:
Where it says: "name" attribute : you might add the word keywords if you would like a keyword meta tag, or you might add description, or content type, ect.. so add your name of the meta tag you would like to use.

Where it says: "content" attribute : you will add your content for instance if you are using the

< META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="anything that would normally be inside here would go into the "content" attribute :">

I still cant get MSN to pick up the meta tag. I've tried putting it in "name" attribute, then "content" attribute, and even both, but still no joy.

Google doesnt seem to have the same problem though

None of the techies have an answer ??

I still havent had any joy with this, has anyone else managed to get google and msn to verify their sites after the new meta tag bits were added?

I have been trying all sorts of things, nothing seems to be working to get googles tag! I thought I was going nuts before I saw this thread.
Please will a mod let us know what is happening??

Hello!! This is a major problem! If we cant get our sites tagged and referenced then there is no point in creating a forum!! I cannot believe that this problem has been going on for over a week now, but not one mod or admin has said anything about it! Come on guys, this is rediculous.
Please come in at least to tell me to get back in my box!

sorry that I didn't see this thread earlier, but the google verification should still work with the new meta-tag system. Proceed as following:

- Go to the webmaster tools and look up the meta-tag that you should add to your site. It should have the structure:

- Go to your "Admin Panel >> Display >> Homepage >> Generalities" and create a new "meta" tag type by clicking this icon under "Additional tags".

- If you look at your google code again, copy the blue part into the "name" attribute field, and the green part in the "content" attribute field:

<meta name="verify-v1" content="gh1Dye7A51ASGUuXNm21HKOL5YihUbyWhwuR4g6/VI=" />

- Click add, and you try to verify your site in the google webmaster tools again.

Works for MSN as well.

Hayley, I'm 100% sure that it verifies your site properly in the google webmaster tools though... Is that meta-tag the first one in your list? Try to place it at the very top. And sorry to ask that silly question, but did you copy the meta-tag I posted above or the one that google generated for you? Just want to be on the safe side.

Be sure you have not forgotten any character as well. The quotation marks should not be included when you copy & paste.
