New Domain Ok but request help with redirection script plse? Empty New Domain Ok but request help with redirection script plse?

Post by Guest December 5th 2007, 16:34

Hiya,

My new Domain name that I bought with my points is now set up OK. (Though have my site down for maintenance at present - as a lot of interlinking of topics hyperlinks to change - eg: in my home-made indexes)

BUT please can someone help me with this......
I'm trying to sort out automatic redirection from
mysite.editboard.com to new domain www. mysite .com

Found this message written in July by Katt, here in support forum.......
(had to do screen-print as couldn't get the text to "quote" correctly here)
New Domain Ok but request help with redirection script plse? Redire10

Tried that, and it redirected OK,
BUT then the page continues to refresh itself every few seconds.

So have removed that script.
Please can anyone advise me how to get it right?
or is there another script that can be used?

Hi all,

Please could a moderator move this query of mine to the "Scripts" support board. Perhaps I posted it on the wrong board & might get some help with it there? Thanks

you should be able to do this automatically now cas, go to admin>>general>>>forum address and scroll to the bottom of the page, then click force redirection to yes.

Oh thank you & bless you Zinex!! As simple as that & I didn't know it!
Just done it and its confirmed........
All the old addresses of the forum (smithproject.editboard.com) will be redirected towards the new (www.smithchat.com)

Thank you Smile - I think it would be good (helpful for other Forums Admins) to have a step by step instruction guide somewhere on the Support forum of the process from start to finish of changing to own domain name. (from buying your points to clicking on that redirection link)

Hi, I changed my forum address. Is it now possible to redirect users who type my old address to this new address? I know there is an option to use mass email to tell your users for new forum address, but it would be good to have some option of redirecting old address to new one, for example first 2 weeks.

edit:
Under admin/general/forum address I dont have that option mentioned here: force redirection to yes?

I'm sorry but please do not bring up old post from 2 years ago. You will need to make a new topic for your question.
