utilities not working properly

someone has made multiple accounts and posted vile pornographic posts that cannot be deleted as they have special script in them. it is a childrens forum so this is totally unacceptable. i have tried to roll back the forum using the utilities facility but it is not working properly. it changes the logos etc and on first glance it appears that the posts have rolled back but when you click into the topic the vile post (and all the other) are still there.

If you are admin then just ban the guy, and then just delete that thread or section. or move to un-wanted post area if u have one

you didnt read my post properly. you cannot delete or even stay on the same page because it blasts porn all over your screen that you cant get out of. he has put script into it. the only way i can get out of it is to use my task manager to 'end program'

If you install MVPS hosts file on your PC this prevents your browser from going into
the porn site and then delete the files. it's a free program link

if no luck there then
second suggestion

If you can get into admin panel general >>configuration you can delete
the forum or catagory then reinstall the forum or catagory
although it means loosing posts.....also delete cookies and files in your browser so it cant establish itself again

third suggestion

You could temporarily disable HTML and BBcode in admin panel>>general>>messages and emails
and temporarily enable WYSIWYG
to see if this prevents the code from activating and then delete the unwanted posts

forth suggestion and maybe the simplest just click on you can moderate this forum
you will then get a panel

If you click on the catagory or forum without opening the topic
you can use the moderation panel at the bottom of the screen
to delete the topic without having to open it


just click on the moderate this forum and delete the topic from the next screen without having to open it

thank you musket for your very helpful suggestions. i am going to try the 'moderate this forum' route if i can work out which forums have the evil posts. unfortunately he opened about 4 accounts and posted loads of stuff in all of them. i dont know if this is just a clever kid or a paedophile. i would very much like to report this to the police but i am now deleting the evidence.

still would like to know why the 'utilities' isn't working properly!
