Do you agree with a smarter grouping system?
A Smarter User Grouping System
I have a grouping system set up that auto-subscribes users into specific groups as they rank up.
For example, the ranks are tied to each group, and must require a certain post count to move up in rank and in color.
10 post is newbie and 50 post is member.
I have noticed that members who make it to the 50 post required member rank, also remain in the newbie group. I simply remove them from the newbie group, however, after every post they make, they are auto-subscribed back into the groups below them again...
This is messing with my sites statistics and its not accurate. It also makes my site look stupid to have a bunch of high ranking members in the newbie group. Please make a smarter grouping system that will fix this problem!

A sort of auto-subscribe out... why not sounds practical

Re: A Smarter User Grouping System
Thank you. My other thread titled "Colorized ranks" is sorta like a solution for this problem. Instead of setting up the grouping system, members can be defined by color based on their rank. Since ranks are not displayed as groups, this means the same problem the grouping system is having, where members of higher ranks remain in lower rank groups, wont happen anymore.Xenovive wrote:agreed i think is a decent idea

I only have one problem with this suggestion. Some people like to keep others in more than one group, and if it auto-unsubscribed someone from a lower group then they could no longer be in that group.

I think this can be prevented by adding an option in the auto-subscribe grouping feature (or below it) to auto-sync the group with the ranks. See this image I have created below:LH Justin wrote:I only have one problem with this suggestion. This will allow certain groups to sync with a certain rank. It will automatically unsubscribe them from a lower ranking group as they advance, now members can be part of multiple groups if they want, and still have a smarter group ranking system.
Thanks!!The_Great_WZ wrote:Just Voted !!!

I still think it could be handled better, but as long as it doesn't interfere with the current system.SPADEZ wrote:I think this can be prevented by adding an option in the auto-subscribe grouping feature (or below it) to auto-sync the group with the ranks. If you think it could be handled better, then share your way of handling this. How would you handle this issue?

Re: A Smarter User Grouping System
Hmm.. No answer yet LH Justin? It isn't that easy to come up with a better solution I guess eh?
Anyways.. I have found another problem with this grouping system.. I have donated Cash(Points) to my members to celebrate the fact that the site has been up for 1 month. I donated members $200 in Forum Cash(points) by mass donating to each group, I gave each group $200.. However... Some members ended up with $600 or more all because they were located in multiple groups... Again.. This is another example of the problem and only proves my point further.

Spadez: Meanwhile, you can always remove them manually from groups
Unless ofcourse there's tons of them, then it's just too long

Re: A Smarter User Grouping System
On average, about 2 people join my site per day, more users are getting active, after EVERY post a user makes they are automatically subscribed back into their proper group and all the groups below them. So if i was to remove 10 people out of all the groups, in 2 mins all of those 10 people could make just ONE post and it would be like if i never removed them from the group. I have not the time nor the patience to deal with such a tedious issue.Caihlem wrote:Spadez: Meanwhile, you can always remove them manually from groups

Re: A Smarter User Grouping System
I hadn't realised that you'd automatically re-join lower post groups
Indeed bothersome
