attachment - Attachment System Empty Attachment System

Post by -(Alpha)- August 14th 2007, 1:17 am

IF this has been posted already, go right ahead and lock it...but I read through the first 4 pages and really don't have time to read it all. (I didnt see it in the first 4 pages)
Anyway, I would enjoy an attachment system, where you can attach various things like Files, Pictures, and other things. (.rar/.zip files, etc)
I've seen this on other forums, and think it would be a good idea.

I vote no, since you can upload a file at Fileden.com or Savfile.com and if you attached a file to a post, it could create serious lag depending on the size of the file.

I disagree. This would make it much easier then going to other sites and such. You could have an attachment thing, where you could browse for the file, and attach it.

And about the lag, I don't exactly know, but on the other forum which has this attachment system, there was no problem with lag or any other form of problem..

I voted yes, it would be a great addition to our forums(mine for sure) I used to have a forum on some other host that had that hack, it was great. It did not slow the server down and this host only had ONE server. They had other serious issues with no data backup and it crashed and lots of data was lost. (just in case somebody tells me to go back to where I came from...)
Anyways, YES for attachements hack, please.

I have read on another thread that it has been refused and without any explanations whatsoever the thread was locked.
Wam bam thank you mam...

Any way of getting an explanation as to why, it's not a tangible idea.

The hack I'm talking about gives you the choice of downloading on your forum attachment files such as word, pdf...
I do lots of cartography and to be able to attache files such as gbd or skl would simply enrich my forum. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like to have this function available to them either.

Wam, bam, smack
Thank you sir, may I have another sir attachment - Attachment System Icon_rambo

Indeed, this has alreadybeen refused several times and will keep on getting refused :/

The reason:
To be able to download or attach something to yur forum, you'd need to be able to access at least part of the database, and that's wht's getting refused each time Wink
