have a bit of an issue with another forum which would like to see solved nicely without getting all strong arm about it.

a couple of my posters were also members on another forum similar to mine but there has been a falling out over there and they have been banned. they want to delete their accounts there but the admin is refusing to do so. the board is set so people cannot delete their own accounts and they have both PMed and emailed the admin to ask for deletion - in fact it was asking for the deletion of account that got one of them banned in the first place

i believe that keeping peoples details and accounts open when they have asked for them to be closed is covered by the data protection act. nobody wants to make a big thing about this or get the other board and admin into trouble - they just want their accounts deleted.

is there any way for forumotion to make a gentle request to get this sorted without it seeming all authorities and official type thing?

yes it just says they are banned. when they click the email they get to deactivate they just end up at the forum with the ban notice and their posts still showing their ID not guest

If you happen to be banned, you kind of do lose the right of getting your account removed. They could change the name if they wanted. You did break their rules. They can remove everything that identifies you, but they can keep things for whatever reason.
