Solved Google pops up when I try signing in to say my site is possibly infected. Please help.

    Post by cecesaun1 December 10th 2011, 6:17 am

    Hello,
I'm experiencing a problem with my forum. I went to sign in today and a page popped up stating that Google had detected a malware problem and that it could possible infect my computer. It states that it was infected by a 3rd party. How can I get this taken care AND find out who/how it was infected. I have a very strong feeling that it was infected intentionally by another forum owner who has caused me nothing but problems from day one and I need to find this information out so I can take the next steps to end this.

I truly need to take care of this as soon as possible and not just for myself but for my members and the guest that frequent my site. My site see's anywhere from 500 to over a 1,000 people everyday and it's critical that I get this handled as quickly as possible.

I do thank you so very much!

I just tried chrome, there was no problem.
Moreover, i don't think chrome can give popups related to viruses. Its afterall not a antivirus. Its your antivirus that generally gives the popups.

Any clues then what I can do to get this off or should I just ignore it? I have no idea why you can't see it...

Well, can you post a screenshot of the thing you get? Also ask users of your forum, if they face any problems?

I just visited your forum and did not get any kind of pop up. Did it pop up before you tried to log in or after?

P.S. Where are your footer links?

I will post a picture of the image I get but it will be later this afternoon. It's almost 6am and I've not been to sleep yet.

I can't check with my members because I did not opt to ignore and go into the site anyway.

    What footer links?

Thanks all for your help. I will post the image, as I mentioned later in the afternoon. Smile

Oh, forgot to add, I get the message after I sign in and once I hit the button to go to the forum part of the site. I use the portal page as my home page so that's where it goes when I first sign in. When you both visited the site, did you just go to the portal/home page or click over to visit the forum also?

The footer links are the ones at the bottom of the pages:

Examples: Report an Abuse, Free Forum, etc.

It just disappeared and I can get online without the warning now. One of my members had notified me about 12 hours ago that she was having the same issue so I guess some could see it and some could not.

I really had not paid any attention to the footer of the forum. I had no idea it was there and I have no idea how to remove it or restore it. So any help with that would be appreciated.
Thanks for all your time and help!

You need to fix the footer links, becuase it is aganist the ToS. Unless you used credits to remove the links even then there should still be about three links there which can not be removed.

Here's the message. I got it a couple nights ago every time I tried to link from a gmail message to the forum. Another member of our forum also got this message that night. The next day it was gone.

It says our forum: "contains content from s017.radikal.ru, a site know to distribute malware." ..... "You should not proceed, and perhaps try again tomorrow or go somewhere else."

Sanket the Google problem is solved, but I still need help in restoring the footer links. Is is possible to aid me in this so I'm not breaking any of the rules. And is it possible to discuss with someone this problem with Brian in private. I mentioned no names yet he comes here and assumes it's him. I'm seeking advice on this and I did not get his forum shut down. I will gladly fill you or any other administrator of the problems regarding this and let you decide the wronged party. I also have many many people who will vouch for what I have to say regarding this.

But first things first, I need to restore the footer and need help with that if you don't mind. Hello
    Thanks bunches!

It's saying that it's supposed to be published but it's still not showing up. I wonder if this could somehow be correlated to the fact that I can't get my mo shortcut button to work either. Is there anyway for someone to help me check this out to see if an error has been made. Our Admin Assistant/Graphic Designer has been making some changes and I'm wondering if by chance she may have somehow made an error causing these problems. I would ask her but I think she is having computer problems...again...because I can't contact her to ask her. With the mod, if you go to move a thread nothing shows up when you click the button, it's just blank.

When you click on modify on the overall footer, there is a option to view the default template. Copy paste the default template & then add it to your template & save. Do not forget to publish it.

    See if that works.

What position do I copy and paste it onto the template? Do I just add it to the bottom of the template? I'm sorry that I'm so unaware of this.

See when you click on modifying a template, you have the the option to click on view default template. Click on that, then copy that default template text & then go back to modifying that template & then paste the code here. So basically, you paste the default code here.

Then publish the changes by hitting the Add

If you are confused on how to past the default template code and publish it? Then you can just delete the template and it will automatically go back to the default. Smile

Yes deleting it will erase any changes. It basically changes it back to the default template that is set up when you first create the forum.
