My forum has one thread which shows many pages of photographs. Sometime within the last 12-24 hours, most of the pages have disappeared. We did have about 55 pages, but now it is down to six. We lost 50 pages.

Is there any way that we can retrieve those lost posts?

Was the thread locked?

The reason why I ask is that there is a limit of how many pages per thread, the forum will automatically locked the thread and create a new one.

Slg is right, if you look down in that list you will see there is another thread with the same title "My Cats Thread with 50% Cotton & Kitten" which has 990 posts.

The pages did not vanish but because of some of Forumotions limits, when a thread reaches more than 990 posts it will split itself. I believe the reason it does this is something to do with keeping the database tidy.

Trying to rejoin the threads so it's all 1 again won't help much either. It might be worth while creating an "Archives" section and store all threads that split themselves in there as a history section. This is how I do it on my forums to get around this problem.

Ah! I do see that other thread. So, I suppose that I can pin them both so they stay at the top, and just continue with the new thread. Correct?
