I'll not ask you to do so. 
You can redirect your extern domain name to your forum, but your domain name will become the URL of the forum.
Take a look at this : https://help.forumotion.com/t7021-redirect-an-extern-domain-name-that-you-own-to-your-board
But a sub domain like you described http://mydomain.com/forums/ isn't possible.
