My custom domain has been working for a year, then it expires and I didn't catch it in time.

So I "buy" it again using points and expect it will fix itself. But no such luck. Now it's not active, the points have not been deducated from my account and I can't simply "buy" it again because it's listed as unavailable

Any thoughts on how I could fix this?

Is it been 3-4 days since you bought the domain name through credits? It normally takes alot of time.

No..the first time (last year) when I started the forum it took a few days. But I did this about 6 weeks ago and still nothing.

When I click on the link it looks as if GoDaddy may have scooped up the domain in the few days it was expired.

You can't purchase the renewal. As it's a little bit too late to renew it in a normal way, you'll have to purchase it for 1600 credits as for buying new domain name.

Thanks for fixing the domain...but how do we get the ads off now?

You have to use credits to remove ads.
Administration Panel > Misc. > Credit Management

General>Forum>Configuration
Activate ads :Guest
Save.

To deactivate if for Guests too,
Misc>Spend Credits
Ads.
