Solved Changing forum Address to domain

    Post by Hayley Thu 10 May 2012 - 15:16

    Hi all!
I am wondering if someone can please point me in the right direction here. I have my own domain and would like the address link to read www.glassconfessional.com, instead of the forumotion one. What do I do to make it so?
    Many thanks in advance!

    ok, it says

Buying a external domain name will not allow you to redirect your Forumotion sub domain to your external domain.

that means I cannot have the link read what I want it to? Which is my domain name? How do I fix it. What will allow it to direct?

It means that your old/original domain name will not be redirected to your external domain name. Example is when a member access your forum on your original domain name, he/she will not be directed to the external domain name of your forum. Though I haven't tried this, I think this is what it means.

Maybe I should make my questions more clear, sorry if I have confused things.
I would like my forum address to read, www.glassconfessional.com. which is the domain I purchased through godaddy.

    Instead it still says theglassconfessional.forumotion.com.
How do I change it, and will it cost money?
Here's a screen shot of the forum address, it doesn't even show where or how I can change it...

If you're gonna add/install a domain name that you didn't acquire or bought from Forumotion, slg already provided the steps to follow for that in the link provided.

I have followed those directions already, and my domain is pointed. that is not the problem.
The problem is that the name of the forum hasn't changed to my domain name.
the forum should now be, www.glassconfessional.com. but it's still the forumotion one.
