Solved "You do not have permission to register on this forum." - PLS HELP

Post by forumadminewbie January 7th 2013, 10:18 pm

I am eagerly awaiting new members to my small forum. Usually, it works fine. But one person is having problems. He claims that my forum won't allow him to register. He gets the following message: "You do not have permission to register on this forum."

Why is this happening? He claims it is because he is on an IP from another country. Could this be the the case? Does "swedishforum.net" only allow Swedish IP:s?

How can I let him register? Just yesterday another person registered and it was working.

Yeah, that's not the problem. He thinks it is IP restricted... I don't know what to say. No one else has had this problem... :/

I have banned a user per request but they don't share the same IP no.

This is what he's told me.
Me - did you fill out the forms correctly, and the code?
He - I never get a chance to fill out anything, because the only thing that appears on the page is the message
"You do not have permission to register on this forum."
Straight below the list of titles/headlines and a promotional banner.

I'm guessing his IP has most likely been blacklisted, meaning that he is a proven spammer or he has a history of malicious activity.

Nooooo, he's surfing through a VPN so he gets another country's ip instead of his own. A lot of ppl do that without being malicious, every day, some even pay for it.

Well, guess what, he managed to sign up finally with another ip, so probably you were right. It's probably been blocked due to blacklisting.
