    Solved Unwanted Ads (popping up)

    Post by gameface101 January 10th 2013, 3:08 am

Strange ads keep popping up at random every time you load a page.
You can close them but when you refresh they keep coming back. Question

More than a few members are experiencing this on their computers and a few on their phones in classic mode.

Is there anything I can do or undo to get rid of these nasty notifications? Is anyone else experiencing this on their site?

Go take a look yourself, sure enjoy your stay all are welcome, hopefully we'll get this unwanted pop up ads problem resolved before you can put your feet up.

I do not see any pop-up ads. Are the ads only appearing when you visit certain sections, forums, categories, or threads?

asking around and experiencing it myself, login, forum index, and portal, were the most common.

Have you scan your computer with your anti-virus program?

yes, up to date + I also have an android phone that gets these pops ups, not certain about the other members experiencing the same.
Usually I try to resolve any FM issues myself, but this is beyond me, double checking my scripts, modules, and templates...

One of your administrators has put it most likely. Check your javascript codes management.

Yeah it's just me ^^ Well with Firefox, when the ad popped up again, I inspected the element to discover it was the free shoutbox widget with some sneaky php. looking for a new free shoutbox widget (and I was just starting to enjoy it)
