Solved Question: Members needing posts before posting a topic?

Post by Tira January 28th 2013, 7:14 pm

Hi, I hope I am posting in the right section for this. I have been searching for the past few days for a certain option. I can not find it on my forum. I would like to be able to have new members have 10 posts before they can post a topic.

The only thing close to this option, that I have found, is using the groups. Unless there is a way to automatically let them move into a regular member group after they meet the required amount of posts, it would be more work than warning them, as we do right now.

Is it possible to do this on my forum (punBB)? If not, is it possible to have it added, and what are the steps to go about this?

    Thanks,
    Tira

Groups is the only way. Have a auto subscribe group of 10 posts. Then give permission to this group according to your choice.

So, I would make a new group for new members on auto subscribe, after they get the 10 posts would they be moved into a member group or does that have to be done manually?

Thanks for helping me, I am not that good at doing this stuff. Smile

If you set it to auto-subscribe at 10 posts, then they'll automatically be added to the group at 10 posts. If they remove themselves (or another admin/group leader removes them) they'll be prevented from posting and need to be added again. I don't think this would affect members already above 10 posts, though, so you'd need to add them all yourself.

It will automatically add any member who has 10 or more posts. If you remove a member from the group, the member will be added back because he/she has the post requirement. To stop this, you will have to delete some the member's posts so he/she has less then 10 posts.
