unable to embed vimeo in my forum

Hi ,

I and my forum members are unable to embed the vimeo videos ..using the video button or the flash button ..once we paste the link in the video tab, and click on OK..the whole url vanishes and nothing happens.. How to embed Vimeo??

Hello,

You need to allow HTML code.
ACP > General > Messages and Emails > Config. > Allow HTML? > Yes

Then you can add videos.

HTML is activated yet Vimeo stays stubbornly out of sight ..while I have no issues with YT

The video button on the text editor is strictly for youtube and dailymotion videos, and the flash doesn't always work because some video hosts don't support the videos being displayed via inserting a URL into a flash code that the text editor creates, so the way around all of that for any video is to copy and paste the html embed code. Most all video hosts that allow videos to be shared on other websites have the html embed code you can copy by clicking a share link under the video, or it could be beside the video, sometimes you have to search for it. On vimeo the "share" button is to the right side of the video. The code will look something like this:

<iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/24121488" width="500" height="281" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe>

Copy and past that into a post where the html is enabled.

The HTML is enabled and when I do copy paste the "iframe" syntax and hit submit... I get the iframe syntax acting as a link and there is no embedding of video ...

I can put that same exact code I posted above on my forum and the video shows and plays. I already tested it, the code works and is correct. So your forum is not html enabled for some reason.

Could it be due to the fact that I am on phpbb3 and u are on invision?

No not at all, both forum versions support html.

Are you sure you've done this:

AP>>General>>Messages and Emails>>Config>>Allow HTML>>Yes

Also in your profile preferences make sure you have "always allow html" selected.

Other than that it could be your internet connection is having problems with vimeo, just know that the code does work and the video does play as its supposed to do when the forum is set up correctly.

Does the site you are trying to upload from have video codes? I know YouTube does, not sure about others. If it does, try those.
